Celebrate Independence Day Safely with Kids
Independence Day is coming up faster than you know. Even though a lot has changed in the world since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, there are still fun ways to celebrate July 4th.
If your kids don’t have school, and you don’t have to work, then you have some fun to plan.
Looking for fun, creative, and safe ways to celebrate Independence Day with your kids?
We have some awesome tips for you, so let’s get started!
COVID Safe Activities
The COVID-19 pandemic is still with us, unfortunately, and you might be wondering what activities are even safe.
The good news is, there are plenty of ways you and your kids can have a fabulous and fun July 4th.
As long as you observe physical distancing of 6 feet, avoid crowded parks and beaches, wear a mask, and practice handwashing, you can keep protected.
Baking With Your Kids
Celebrate Independence Day by baking with your kids. Red, white, and blue desserts are a delicious way to celebrate.
Some ideas to consider:
- Bake a patriotic cake using blueberries and strawberries for your flag
- Blend frozen fruits, freeze, and make colorful popsicles
- Make a red, white, and blue milkshake
You can even craft a creative dessert with your favorite Jell-O flavor and fruit juices.
Fourth Of July Crafts
Crafts are always fun, and kids love the creativity.
You can take Popsicle sticks and paint to make a flag to hang up anywhere in your house.
What about kindness rocks? Those wonderfully painted rocks with inspirational messages we all have seen around.
You can create patriotic kindness rocks and leave inspirational messages for your neighbors and friends.
You can also think about making patriotic beaded necklaces and bracelets!
Morning Hike in the Park
Go early to avoid the crowds. Pack your backpacks with snacks and drinks and hit the trails.
You can bring nature along with you on your walk. Challenge your kids to see how many birds they can spot along the way, or how many pinecones they can collect.
Water, Fun, and Food
What about a sprinkler, a water slide, or a kiddie pool? Set up some water fun in the safety of your backyard.
Today is the day to get that barbecue out and grill up a storm. Set up a picnic outside. Hot dogs, chips, and a cheeseboard are all simple foods to grab and eat separately.
If you are having guests, the CDC suggests having them bring their own plates, cups, and utensils.
Decorate Your House
If there is one thing kids love to do, it is to help. Get them involved. Streamers, signs, posters, balloons are all fun and safe ways to decorate.
Don’t forget outside either. Consider getting some patriotic driveway chalk art to liven things up.
